The city of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu was founded January 24, 2001 following the amalgamation of Acadia and St. Athanasius and the towns of Iberville, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Saint-Luc. With a total area of ??225.61 square kilometers and a population estimated at 92,050 inhabitants which called Johannaise and Johanna.
